Our history
Our name comes from Portuguese, and the literal translation would be Sheepskin.
In Uruguay, in winter, it is common to use a "pelego" on the horse's lap to protect both the animal and the rider.
The name of the restaurant was in honor of the town where our CEO grew up, the first job he had going to the fields to pick Pelegos to later sell them, and the nickname that both his father and he called him when he was little.
At Pelego, we wanted to innovate and bring a more sophisticated take on the famous "parrilladas" to Alicante.
Here you can find the perfect blend of the Mediterranean and the Olimar.
We've thought of every detail to make sitting at our table a unique experience in a calm and elegant atmosphere. The flavors of our food will transport you to the very core of your palate, and you'll leave feeling like our team was there just for you.
We started this project with a lot of love, a Basque grill that's the Ferrari of cooking today, charcoal and firewood to enhance the flavors, fresh, seasonal produce from our Alicante Central Market, and the excitement of gathering around the table with those you love.
